THE APPLIQUE STORY

Applique work is a very intricate art form used to produce fabric based products with at least 2 layers of fabric used in production of every piece. The fine designs are meticulously carved on the top layer of fabric with the use of a chisel. The carved piece of fabric is placed on the base layer of fabric and then hand stitched together. The process consumes a lot of time and requires tremendous amount of patience to complete every piece. Our artisans take pride in each piece that they produce. For them it is not a means of earning their livelihood, but also keeping alive the art form with which they associate their cultural identity.
